Us and them.

Them: Company Name, Jennifer speaking.
Me: Hi, this is Alyssa from blah blah. Can I please speak to Ryan?
Them: {speaking to Ryan in the background, “It’s Alyssa from blah blah on the phone. OK, I’ll put it straight through to your office”} I’ll put you through.

Them: Hello, Ryan speaking.
Me: Yahoo! (I didn’t really say this)

Note: These aren’t their real names, simply because I can’t remember any. I blame it on my pregnancy brain.

This is really strange to me, not because of their inefficiency, but because ‘Jennifer’ spoke directly to Ryan, and he was all “Cool! Fully put her through!” and she was all “Okily dokily! I’ll put her through then! Yeah!” Then ‘Jennifer’ either pressed the wrong button (but was obviously close enough in vicinity to Ryan that she’d notice whether his phone was ringing or not), or Ryan just decided he wouldn’t pick up the phone, straight after he said he wanted to take the call. Same thing with ‘Meredith’.

Anyway, I did lots of washing up last night. It was “fun”, or as fun as washing the dishes can be.

I cannot wait until I’m hugely pregnant. Is it as good as I’m imagining? I mean, it would probably be uncomfortable, and carrying around all that extra weight would be exhausting, but I am so looking forward to walking around my fair suburb and seeing people who I knew from school. I never had a boyfriend until my husband came along, you see. And that was only two years ago. So when they see that I’m married and pregnant, they’ll be all like “WOWEE! That happened fast!” Of course, it’s been five years since school ended, but it seems like yesterday.

I’m not very articulate. As such, I’ve decided that whenever I have to talk to someone (especially about business issues), I’ll form a clear picture in my mind of what I have to say, before I open my mouth. See? That sentence was far from articulate! But anyway, when I went to the post office today, I said to the lady, “Ummm, I came in here yesterday, and well, we have an account with you guys, and ummm… Colin did up the transaction, ummm, pink form thing after I left, and said to pick it up today.” I could have said, “I’ve come to pick up our pink transaction form from yesterday.” Oh well. Lesson learnt.

I have a headache. And a cool comic for you to enjoy.
